The Basics - The Four ' C ' s

CUT:

The angles, proportions and execution of the diamond design.  It also accounts for the brilliance and sparkle of the diamond. The cut also refers to the shape of the Diamond. These are the following common shapes:

Round Brilliant, Asscher, Cushion, Emerald, Heart, Marquise, Oval, Pear, Princess, Radiant and Trillion.

COLOR:

The presence or absence of color in white diamonds; D refers to Colorless Diamonds (the most white) with Z being yellow tinted Diamonds.

CLARITY:

The presence of surface or internal flaws created during the natural Diamond formation process often referred to as inclusions. The rarest are the Internally Flawless Diamonds.

CARAT:

The weight of the Diamond. Diamonds with larger carat weights are rarer and more valuable. Depending on the CUT the Diamond can appear larger or smaller.
